FAQ
Plain answers to the common questions.
Is Greenwood a bank?#
No. Greenwood is a financial technology company, not a bank, not a broker-dealer, and not a licensed custodian. The card is issued by a licensed card-issuing partner. Tokenized stocks are issued by regulated third parties.
What is stockback?#
A percentage of every card purchase, paid to you as fractional tokenized shares instead of cash. See Stockback.
Do I own real shares?#
You own a token backed one-to-one by a real share held in custody by a regulated issuer. You get the economic rights (price, dividends, splits) through that claim. It is not the share certificate itself, and voting rights depend on the issuer.
Can I get tokenized stocks where I live?#
It depends on your jurisdiction and the issuer. Availability is genuinely restricted and differs between issuers. The app shows what is available to you.
What does membership cost?#
Nothing. Tiers are based on what you hold, not what you pay. See Membership.
Where does the yield come from?#
From open lending markets on Morpho via a curated USDG vault. Borrowers post collateral and pay interest. Around 7% estimated APY today, variable, not guaranteed. We keep a share of anything above 3% and publish that share.
Is my money insured?#
Accounts are not FDIC or SIPC insured, and we will never imply otherwise. Cover for smart contract failure is in procurement; when it is live we will publish exactly what it covers and what it does not.
Can I lose money on the Portfolio Line?#
Yes. If your collateral falls far enough, part of your portfolio will be sold to repay the loan, potentially at a bad price. Read The Portfolio Line before enabling it.
Does the GWOOD token pay me anything?#
No, and it is not designed to. It governs its own treasury. Later it can count toward your tier and reduce what we charge you. Your balances and rewards are never denominated in it.
What happens if Greenwood shuts down?#
Your assets keep working. Your account is a standard smart account on a public chain, your keys are on your device, and we publish a guide to operating the account with third-party wallets. Greenwood disappearing would be inconvenient, not catastrophic.
Can I withdraw whenever I want?#
Yes, to any wallet, with bank off-ramp coming. No windows, no notice periods, no exit fees. Withdrawals from Earn can queue in the rare case that underlying lending markets are fully utilized.
