Card terms
The terms of the Greenwood Card, stated plainly.
These are the terms of using the Greenwood Card, in plain language. The card is issued by a licensed card-issuing partner under license from Mastercard, and the issuer's cardholder agreement governs the card itself. Where these pages and the issuer's agreement differ, the issuer's agreement controls. Applying for or using the card means you accept both.
Eligibility
- You must pass identity verification. See Verification for what that involves.
- One card program membership per person, and one phone number per member. Applying with someone else's details or documents is fraud and ends the relationship.
- Availability varies by jurisdiction and can change.
The card
- The card is virtual and numberless in the app. The number, expiry and security code are revealed only after you confirm with your passkey, and they disappear again on a timer.
- Treat revealed card details like cash. Anyone with the number can spend your balance. If you believe the details have been exposed, freeze the card immediately and contact support.
- The card can be added to Apple Pay and Google Wallet by manual entry.
Money on the card
- The card balance is held with the card issuer. It is separate from your Greenwood account, it is not self-custodied, and it is not FDIC insured.
- Loading the card from your account is free during beta. The published minimum load is $21.
- If a load is received but cannot reach the card immediately, it completes automatically and you are notified. Your money is never spent twice and never silently lost.
- Moving a card balance back to your account is a support request today, not a button. It will become self-service.
Spending
- The card works where Mastercard is accepted, subject to the issuer's controls. Some merchant categories are restricted by the issuer, and transactions in them may be declined or may put the card at risk of closure.
- Cross-border transactions may carry additional network or issuer fees.
- Repeated wrong entries of card credentials can cause the issuer's systems to block the card automatically. A blocked card is restored through support, not the app.
- Using the card for anything unlawful, or from a sanctioned jurisdiction, is prohibited and ends the card.
Freezing, closing, disputes
- You can freeze and unfreeze the card in the app at any time. A freeze blocks new authorizations; settlements of purchases made before the freeze may still complete.
- To dispute a transaction, contact support with the transaction details as soon as possible. Disputes are handled under the issuer's and the network's rules and timelines, and funds relating to a disputed transaction may be withheld while a dispute is open.
- To close the card, contact support. Any remaining balance is returned to your account after outstanding transactions settle.
Stockback and the card
Stockback accrues on settled purchases only. Declined and reversed transactions do not earn, and program rates, caps and eligibility can change on notice as described in Stockback and Membership.
Changes and contact
